Before the 2008 recession, I was living the high life as a Corporate Flight Attendant, jetting around the world with celebrities and top-tier clients.
But when the economy crashed, even the ultra-wealthy cut back, and my nonstop schedule came to a screeching halt.
Overnight, I went from earning $300+ a day to juggling $10-an-hour jobs just to stay afloat. Burned out and searching for a lifeline, I turned to Craigslist where I stumbled upon the job that changed everything...

In 2009, I came across a Craigslist listing for a front desk position at a luxury yacht crew agency. I didn’t know a thing about yachts or crew placement, but it paid $15 an hour and I needed a fresh start.
What began as a clerical job quickly turned into something much bigger. Within months, I was interviewing crew and learning the ins and outs of an industry I never knew existed. The energy, the people, the stories,
I was captivated.
After six years of helping others land their dream jobs at sea, I realized it was my turn. So in July 2015, I packed up my office supplies and stepped aboard.

With zero boating experience, all I had to offer was a strong hospitality background and a relentless work ethic.
I started at the bottom scrubbing boats in shipyards, tackling dirty jobs, and taking whatever work came my way, inside and out.
Every day was a crash course. Before long, I became a freelance sole Deck/Stew on boats under 100', juggling everything from elegant table settings to bilge pumps. I got paid to cruise the Bahamas on repeat and run boats up and down the coast, discovering charming harbor towns along the way.
Not bad for a Craigslist career pivot.
But the biggest surprise? I had a knack for outfitting and organizing, turns out, transforming chaos into calm on a yacht is my kind of fun.

In the world of freelance yachting, it's common to step aboard a boat that’s a total mess, disorganized, understocked, and missing everything from a potato peeler to proper wine glasses.
My natural instinct? Clean out the grimy lockers, toss expired items, and make a smart, streamlined shopping list. I did this again and again, and word spread fast. Captains and owners kept calling me back.
It brought me so much joy that I launched Carrie’s Space Outfitting, aka CSO.
For the first five years, I did everything myself: shopping for each item, billing the clients, and handling the returns. (Badly, I’ll admit
I was never good with receipts or numbers. I’m the organizing girl, not the accounting pro.)
So in the summer of 2025, I created the Yacht Shopping Mall, an online hub where every item is organized by room or purpose with direct links to products. Think pantry, galley tools, dining and salon staterooms, you name it.
Now? The client does all the shopping and returns through their own Amazon account, and we simply come aboard to UNBOX, place everything where it belongs, and get it perfectly organized.
All you have to do is step aboard, pour a glass of wine, and sail away.
